Countenance gets 5 stars in a New REVIEW from The Paranormal Romance Guild!!!

5*****Stars

Book: Countenance
Author: Joy Ross Davis
Publisher: Ecanus Publishing
Genre: Paranormal/Mystery/Ghosts
Rating: Adult

This is a book you don't want to put down until the end. It is full of surprises, suspense, secrets, ghosts, demons, and angels, so what's not to love. From the first page, it holds your interest with a cast of characters you can't help but love. There are moments when you have tears in your eyes and others when you have a smile on your face.
Thirty-eight year old Nealey's life as she knew it came to a halt the day her ex-brother-in-law, Brian, shot and killed her husband and her two children, then her sister and himself. Although injured, Nealey survived physically, but definitely not mentally. When her Aunt Sylvie Wolcott found out what happened she immediately went to Nealey to give her help. After a year, Nealey sold her home, quit her job and went to live with her aunt at The Playhouse Inn in the mountains of Tennessee.
Just before her death Nealey’s mother begged her never to return to the Playhouse, however, Nealey finds herself living there once again. Thirty years ago, something frightened her mother so badly, she never returned. From that day on her mother was never the same, and it was Aunt Sylvie who put food on the table and made sure that Nealey and her sister, Naomi, were cared for.
Sylvia is a well-known and popular cookbook author, and she surrounds herself with some very unusual characters. Noble and Worthy brothers stay at the Inn, as does Benton, her very tall and handsome custodian. And not to be left out, Lulu the most loveable Irish Wolfound. However, while Nealey is trying to come to terms with her new life and the people around her, a new guest named Max makes an appearance. Max is a man who has a great many secrets; he is definitely not what he appears to be.
Aunt Sylvie gives Nealey half ownership of the Playhouse; now she has to learn how to run a B & B. At least now she has something to take her mind off the horrors that happened one year ago, or does she? It doesn't take long before strange things happen, voices and two small twin girls who pop up at breakfast saying they are hungry. It seems that there are a great deal of secrets involved with the Playhouse and apparently, ghosts are one of them.
There is a lot about her life and her family Nealey needs to learn about, some good and some scary. There is evil living in the house. It wants something or someone; it will stop at nothing to get it. Someone is in danger, but who? Why are there ghosts living in the house? Why didn't they pass over? There is also a connection between Benton and Nealey, but is it something that can have a happy ending? Benton, Worthy, and Noble all have secrets and are also more than they appear to be. Everything at the Playhouse is a mystery. Although this book is paranormal, there is still a lot of mystery, which should appeal to anyone who loves that genre.
This was Joy Ross Davis' debut novel, which I found very hard to believe.
