Another 5 Star rating for 12:19 by Michael Infinito!

* Five Stars*  Holy Suspense!, August 29, 2013
This review is from: 12:19 (Kindle Edition)
Michael Infinito is a GENIUS! 12:19 will keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know where the story is headed, it does a hairpin turn that makes you gasp out loud. The spiritual element to this story just gilds the lily.

12:19 is a MUST READ!

Get Rose Bush by Stephen Doster for free!

For the next five days only, you can get Stephen Doster’s new novel Rose Bush for free!

Read, review and spread the word! The print version will be out within a week!
published by Deer Hawk Publishing – Georgia Witness, Shadow Child, Rose Bush and Jesus Tree (release date February 2014)
Rose Bush is a mysterious story of starting over, political ladder climbing, environmental debates, and the Guiding Hand which, no matter how hard you try to fight it, is always there. This would appeal to those who like the nitty-gritty of politics, environmentalists who cringe at the sight of a smoke stack, and history buffs who know the past never really dies.

Seeking to bury his grief in his work after the death of his wife, engineer Dudley Redfern moves from Wisconsin to Sprite, Georgia, where Old Southern values are placed on odd pedestals and more than the usual spiritual awakenings take place. Sprite’s prodigal son, Charlie Baumgartner, comes back to run for office against Chad who has his sights on all that is rich and powerful, especially beautiful Cassandra Palmer, daughter of the wealthiest family in town. With the help of Dudley and Urquhart McRae, the local hair salon owner who serves as a repository for all rumor, gossip, or newsworthy items that occur in town, madness, mayhem and unexpected heroes avail amidst Southern etiquette and backwoods justice.

Consider the heavens… By James “Pep” Washburn

Words from Pep

Consider the heavens…
By James “Pep” Washburn

Consider the heavens. It’s eleven PM and still 80 degrees. Humidity fills the night sky slightly obscuring my gaze toward the center of our galaxy. To the southeast Pegasus rides above Uranus and Neptune sails through Orion. Just above the western horizon Saturn lusts after Venus as they make an exit stage left down the plane of the ecliptic. Mars and Jupiter will soon be towed into view by Luna dressed in her silver beauty. Swift Mercury clings to the sun on the other side of our blue orb and Pluto, up there somewhere, voyeur, hidden in the dark, obliquely circles this humble family of planets on the edge of the Milky Way. All this, just an orbiting spec in our local cluster, wheels within flaming wheels, incomprehensible in size, space, distance. Beauties hitherto unseen by humankind. Realities we are unable to yet imagine. Upon what can this be measured? Distance, size, scale, all is relative. Human consciousness spins out of control in the grasping of this. Comprehension appears possible only in defaulting to an emotional perspective. . . . . . A slight shifting of gravel draws my attention and I slowly rock my head and eyes downward. In the dark, two mice, unaware of my godlike observation, are making their way up a badger shaped stone. It must be Mickey & Mini. Their almost imperceptibly shrill chatting, just within my range of hearing, I interpret to be comments on the infinitude above us. . . . . . Then it happened. They, me, we, mice and man, dust in the universe, floating in the eternity that washes around us, sank into the depths of this sea of space and for a moment seemed to know the number of our days. For a moment we glimpsed each other’s frail and immeasurable beauty and the grace that allowed it all. For this one eternal moment revelation had consumed me. . . . . . The call of an owl brought us back down to earth. From the box seats in our theater, Mickey and Mini leaped into the grass and my state of altered consciousness passed. . . . . . Consider the heavens for they consider thee.

Romance writer Maddie Taylor’s career is in trouble. Convinced that true love does not exist outside of her imagination, she can’t complete her current manuscript. When a friend, Jonah Spartman, dies and wills her half of his cattle ranch, she seizes the chance to leave New York City. There is one catch: in order to inherit she must stay in Arkansas for three months.

The other half of the ranch belongs to Gideon Spartman, Jonah’s grandson, a black-ops veteran whose humanity was torn from him in Afghanistan. Rugged and sexy, Gideon embodies the hero in Maddie’s current manuscript. He is far from happy to be sharing an inheritance that is rightfully his with a “gold-digging bimbo” and resents having to care for his two orphaned nephews. But Maddie senses the need behind Gideon’s rough and unwelcoming exterior. She must also contend with the two love-starved boys and an Angus bull who craves chocolate.

The ranch is hardly the safe haven Maddie expected. It is operating in the red, and the area is plagued with drug dealers and cattle rustlers. Maddie can return to her barren New York existence or stay and fight to save the ranch and win Gideon’s love. The choice is hers.

Words from Pep

Picture this...by Pep Washburn
You and I are balanced on one of countless charcoal boulders stretching as far as we can see up and down the middle of an inconsequential, almost dry, river bed. This corridor has the appearance of a canyon as it is bounded on each side by a nearly straight wall of leafy greens – maple, oak, ash, pine - tops of which gracefully bend under the urging of a breeze. This tortured passageway is softened along its flanks by a restricted tangle of grass and mid-August sedges. Our ears are gently bathed with the slosh and burble of water as it bumper-cars its way down this highway to the sea. A wren scolds us while at the same time probing crevices in the bark of a hemlock and overhead, as its name infers, a fly-catcher darts and swoops at a cloud of insects for lunch. . . . . .
This is a small section of the Little Eau Pleine River that runs through my property. This is heaven here-and-now, you and I communing, experiencing, relating, hearts beating with the one rhythm of creation. Exchanging breath with the Spirit of the universe. . . . . .
Many seek a divine/spiritual reality within the confining walls of institutions and their programs, dogmas and doctrines. But, Spirit by nature will not be confined to anyone’s paradigm or tradition. . . . . .
As we stand balanced on these rocks Spirit is singing in this canyon of the Little Eau Pleine. Spirit is always singing, rejoicing out there and within our beings. It just takes eyes to see, ears to hear, a centered and quieted heart. . . . . .
Near a tiny pool, between the sedges and boulders four dragonflies, wings of velvet and midnight, bob around each other in gay dance, their slender metallic cobalt blue bodies iridescent in the light. Clearly they are filled with Spirit’s ecstasy expressing the mind of God. To their right, perched slightly above on the edge of overhanging stone sits a single viewer. Its wings lace like, transparent. Its body, cadmium red, radiates passionate approvable. What a grand performance for this audience of one! . . . . .
As you and I begin to retreat downstream, boulder to boulder, we too become aware of our audience of One passionately enjoying our dance along the Little Eau Pleine.

Words from Pep
Every now and then the hand of humankind upon the planet strikes me as so destructive I see little hope for the future. I'm in one of those moods, thus the following - - -

I will tell you up front, depending on your perspective, this may not be an uplifting post as are most I write. That being said - attune your ear! . . . . . Within humankind resides an astounding characteristic. We have called it love, and tagging close behind comes compassion, empathy, kindness, humility, self-sacrifice. The fallout of these tangible attitudes is peace and wise behavior. Our species, so we tell ourselves, is capable of divine action. I have no argument with this potential, but I have to present an observation:  Swimming in our sea of affluence we have lost our love for the earth and thus wise behavior. There is no limit to our consumption. Unless we control our selfish appetite, planetary ecocide may take only a few decades to unfold, and is undeniably the future for our children. Believing otherwise is to live in denial. Missionaries of materialism baptize the world in the name of over production and over consumption even as the tide of extinction rises. . . . . . I admit that much of my life has been hijacked by the false gospel of consumerism. The point of existence is not material acquisition. The point of existence is to grow in understanding the love that fills this planet and encircles us within the benevolence of the universe. The point of existence is to discover and liberate this divine love within yourself for humanity and creation to see. This is what radiated from Jesus and made his life so impacting. “Consider the lilies – Contemplate the birds of the air – It is not possible to serve God, to be alive in the Spirit, and yet focused on the wealth of this world.” The truth of his voice is there for all to experience. . . . . . Take stock of your wealth. How much is enough? Are you willing to sacrifice more of the point of your existence for that “which moth and rust destroys”? Resist the dominant paradigm, the diseased idol of Affluenza. “Lay up treasure for yourselves” in love, empathy and kindness. Breath out thankfulness to our Mother for what she has given and to our Creator for the experience of existence. Only by this will creation be allowed to heal. Only by this will true wealth be known by all.

Tom Simmons' nonfiction Forgotten Heroes of WWII is acquired by Taylor Trade Publishing!!!!!

Tom Simmons’ honorable endeavor of bringing to light the men and women who committed heroic deeds with valor and humbleness during World War II, Forgotten Heroes of WWII, has been acquired by Taylor Trade Publishing of the Rowman and Littlefield Group.
To have this book reprinted has been a determined goal of mine since the day Tom sent it to me. My father, William Heyward Collins (1922-1991), and my mother, Hildegard Valeska Schuster Collins (1929-2002), were both survivors of WWII – on opposing sides. I grew up listening to all the horror stories from both points of view. I did not understand my father’s nightmares nor my mother’s fears when I was younger. It is only when I attained the age in which they experienced such anguish and trials (of which I will never know) that I thought on such, and imagined the pain, sacrifice and suffering. My father was US Air Force, I was US Army. My mother grew up in Dettelbach, Germany. I lived there from 1983-87; even slept in my grandmother’s bed, warmed by her own personal feather comforter. So, I touched the tip of the heritage iceberg; empathized minutely. Forgotten Heroes of WWII struck the core of my being. Each personal story made me appreciate my parents so much more. I learned more from these recollections than I did through all my schooling.
The acquisition and publishing of  Forgotten Heroes of WWII will only add fuel to my own personal fire of getting this book in every historical curriculum, in every library in the world and, most importantly, into the hands of the contributors of the book and/or their families. They deserve proper adoration and recognition. Even if they say that they only did what had to be done, they will always be my heroes.
