Avett
Novel Hits Top of Amazon Listing
Murphy
writer Wally Avett’s first novel was spotlighted this past Monday on Amazon’s Kindle
Daily Deal and rocketed to the top of the bestseller lists later in the day. Amazon
Murder
in Caney Fork, based on a true Southern story of a vigilante killing
during World War II, is Avett’s fiction debut, released in March.
Nearly
2,000 e-books were sold in a matter of hours, propelling the retired journalist
into the ranks of national bestsellers. Murder
in Caney Fork was soon ranked at No. 18 in the Top 100 titles sold that
day, No. 2 and No. 3 in the sub-categories of Crime and Contemporary books.
“I
know this won’t last long, but it sure feels good,” Avett said laughing. “Last night I checked on the Amazon rankings
of authors, which change hourly, and I was near John Grissom and Nicholas
Sparks, right next to Stephen King in sales.”
BelleBooks
of Memphis, Tennessee is Avett’s publisher and will release his second novel, Last
Bigfoot in Dixie, October 8th. A
wild rollicking mountain tale, it includes a killer bear, an Appalachian
psychopath and buried Yankee gold.
